Jessica Penguin Experiment

This is the original photo of Jessica and the penguin.
This page will show several different effects applied to this photo.

EFFECT NAME : DABBLE.
I like this effect because it looks like rough brush strokes of paint and the details of Jessicas face have still been retained.

EFFECT NAME : IMPRESSIONIST
I could have adjusted the size of the dots used to be smaller to keep the facial features clear but it just didn't look impressionistic at a smaller dot size.

EFFECT NAME : PASTEL HARD
This effect results in a very soft look. All details have been lost however. You can still tell that Jessica is a human sitting on a rock but the penguin is very hard to distinguish.

EFFECT NAME : PASTEL SOFT
I like this effect. It leaves alot of the detail and you can still see the penguin.

EFFECT NAME : POINTIST
This effect has sharpened the colors considerably. The areas have been divided into tiny blocks of the original color. I am not fond of the results here.

EFFECT NAME : WATERCOLOR
This effect has softened most of the areas of color yet many of the details have been sharpened. Notice the rail behind Jessica and the outline of the penguin.

EFFECT NAME : WAVEPAPER
Wavepaper applies a texture to the entire photo. Can you see the tiny waves? The intensity of the colors is lost and the details have completely disappeared.

EFFECT NAME : SKETCH
This is an interesting combination of softening and outlines. Look at the outlines around the shoes and rocks.
